Mainers Will Not Benefit

Our power bills will not be reduced as a result of this project

  • The proposed corridor will not result in lower power bills for Maine ratepayers. This project isn’t about making electricity more affordable for Mainers, it’s about CMP's stakeholders and investors making a profit.

  • The "benefits" package offered to to Maine by CMP amounts to roughly $0.37/month per ratepayer, or $5/year, and not all ratepayers will benefit. Meanwhile, CMP will profit to the tune of $60 million/year off of this destructive transmission line.

  • Power transmitted on this line cannot be sold in Maine. There is no off ramp for the power; it will just be passing through.

This is a bad deal for Maine!
